A massive weekend of sporting action is on the cards across the world, from seismic football clashes in Europe to the start of the World Series in Toronto. Meanwhile, the title battle in Formula 1 heads to Mexico.

Here's what our editors will be watching over the next few days:

Saturday, October 25th

Blue Jays vs Dodgers - 02:00 CET

It’s time for baseball’s biggest game of the year as the World Series starts on Friday night. The Los Angeles Dodgers, heavily favoured to repeat their win from 2024, take on this season’s Cinderella story in the Toronto Blue Jays.

‘Canada’s team’ were slated as mid-pack fodder at the start of the season, but under the leadership of manager John Schneider, they have turned themselves into one of the best ball clubs in MLB.

Powered by the bats of veteran George Springer and Vladimir Guerrero Jr, with help from the likes of Bo Bichette, Ernie Clement and Daulton Varsho, they won the American League (AL) East title ahead of the New York Yankees, before blowing past them in the Division Series.

That set up a Championship Series against the Seattle Mariners, which they won in seven thrilling encounters.

Now, they face their toughest test. The Dodgers are built for October, and have looked every part of the juggernaut they were a year ago. Shohei Ohtani - baseball’s only two-way player - grabs the headlines, but it has been their starting pitching that has led the way so far.

Blake Snell and Yoshinobu Yamamoto were imperious in the Championship Series, and the Blue Jays know they must get to them early if they are to have any chance of winning the Fall Classic.

The best-of-seven series begins in Toronto, which will be loud and partisan as the hosts look to get on the front foot.

They know early wins will be crucial to put the pressure on the reigning champions, but if any team can string hits together, pitch well and play error-free defence under this scrutiny, it is the Blue Jays.

If they pull it off, it will be a story for the ages. If the Dodgers win, they will create their own history. It’s a match-up worth watching in what is one of sport’s biggest events.

Napoli vs Inter - 18:00 CET

One of the Serie A’s most eagerly anticipated matches is set to occur on Saturday as Napoli host Inter Milan.

The reigning champions have not had a good run at things of late, suffering four defeats over the last month. Despite being hard to break down during the 2024/25 campaign, the Partenopei have had just two clean sheets thus far, both coming in their opening two fixtures.

In contrast, Inter have gone from strength to strength under new coach Christian Chivu. The Romanian has led the Nerazzurri to seven consecutive wins across all competitions, keeping five clean sheets during that stretch. Through seven league games, there have been nine different players to find the back of the net.

The last three meetings between the pair have ended in 1-1 draws. However, Napoli are without a win in their last five head-to-heads since a 3-1 success back in 2023.

It is very tight at the top of the table, with both Napoli and Inter on 15 points, one behind AC Milan. As such, the match at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona could go a long way in determining the side to lift the Scudetto.

Feyenoord vs PSV - 14:30 CET

Feyenoord and PSV have established themselves as the two title contenders in the Netherlands this season, and they're facing off this Sunday.

Robin van Persie's first full campaign as Feyenoord boss couldn't have gone much better so far, with the Rotterdam side boasting a record of eight wins and one draw from their first nine league matches. They also got off the mark in Europe on Thursday with a 3-1 win over Panathanaikos.

PSV were the Dutch side to hog the mid-week limelight, though, thanks to their stunning 6-2 win over Italian champions Napoli. The Eredivisie holders made a stuttering start to the season, but are looking back to their best again now.

Both their and Feyenoord's recent matches have been pulsating watches, with the former’s last three games featuring 15 goals and the latter’s featuring 16. There also hasn't been a single 0-0 draw in the Eredivisie this season, so if you want to see goals this weekend, this is the match for you.

Add in the high stakes, with Feyenoord having the chance to go six points clear and PSV looking to take top spot from them, and you have all the ingredients for an absolute thriller.

Real Madrid vs Barcelona - 16:15 CET

One of the biggest occasions in the footballing calendar takes place this Sunday, as fierce rivals Real Madrid and Barcelona clash in El Clasico! To no one's surprise, Spain's most prestigious two teams sit at the summit of LaLiga, with Madrid leading Barcelona by just two points.

Xabi Alonso takes charge of his first El Clasico, having played in it a number of times as a Madrid player. Los Blancos have lost just a single game this season, and look like a more solid and organised outfit under the Spaniard.

Coming off the back of four consecutive wins, they will be full of confidence in front of their home crowd, and a victory could give them a five-point gap at the top.

Things have been a little more complicated of late for Barca. The defending champions have looked extremely vulnerable at times this season, and back-to-back defeats against PSG and Sevilla just before the international break would have given Hansi Flick some food for thought.

They have got back on track, though, with a last-minute win against Girona last week before a 6-1 thumping of Olympiacos a few days ago. But they know that the ultimate test is ahead of them.

Incredibly, Barca beat Real Madrid four out of four times last season, and rather convincingly too on most occasions. But this time is sure to be different. It is going to be a good one.

Mexican Grand Prix - 21:00 CET

The world championship has come alive in the last few weeks, and with five races to go, Mexico City feels like a hugely significant Grand Prix for all three Formula 1 title rivals. Oscar Piastri remains ahead, but his lead has been cut to just 14 points as his teammate Lando Norris closes in.

The third horse in this race is the four-time world champion Max Verstappen. The Dutchman has defied all odds to drag himself back into the championship fight, piling pressure on a McLaren team that knows they can’t afford to bottle this title challenge.

Verstappen was 104 points behind championship leader Piastri after the Dutch Grand Prix in August; he is now just 40 points behind and very much in the Aussie’s rearview mirror.

It is game on in Mexico this weekend for what promises to be a fascinating race with so much at stake. You simply don’t want to miss it!
