Arsenal forward Kai Havertz has picked up a knee injury this week, with the club now set to look towards the transfer market once again.

After beating Manchester United 1-0 on the opening day, manager Mikel Arteta faces his first serious problem of the season as Havertz looks to be out for a number of months with a knee injury that could force the Gunners to buy a backup striker.

This has been revealed by The Athletic journalist David Ornstein, who states that Arsenal are already exploring their options to replace Havertz, who will be a huge loss to the side, especially now that the season has started.

"Arsenal forward Kai Havertz set for spell out with knee injury. Assessments on 26yo Germany int’l at early stage so prognosis + duration unclear but #AFC actively exploring transfer market for signing to strengthen attack & provide cover,” Ornstein posted.

Havertz is more of a number 10 than a striker, but despite having an injury-hit 2024/25 campaign, the number 29 picked up nine goals in 23 appearances for the North London side. With the arrival of Viktor Gyokeres, he was set to be a backup option, but now Arteta has a huge problem to fix before the transfer window shuts in a few weeks time.

Arsenal face newly promoted Leeds United this weekend and will have to deal with the absence of Havertz, which could really hurt the side once Gyokeres needs to be rotated or if he picks up a knock, as the side would then be without a striker once again.
