Dominik Szoboszlai’s future at Liverpool has begun to look slightly uncertain, with reports in Europe suggesting both Real Madrid and Manchester City are monitoring the Hungarian star.

However, sources close to the situation have indicated to Flashscore there is no reason for Liverpool fans to panic.

Szoboszlai, 25, is opening discussions with the club about a new contract and there is optimism inside Anfield that he will commit the next phase of his career to Liverpool.

The midfielder has been one of their standout performers this season, thriving during a period of transition in which several big-name signings have struggled to find rhythm.

Szoboszlai is said to enjoy the responsibility he’s been handed under the current setup. The Hungary international currently earns around £120,000 per week - and that figure represented a solid deal when he joined from RB Leipzig in 2023.

He signed a five-year contract at the time but with that agreement now heading towards its midway point, Liverpool are open to rewarding his progress with improved terms.

Despite recent reports linking him with Madrid and City, neither club has made an approach of any kind so far.

Liverpool sources acknowledge that Europe’s elite would inevitably show interest if he became available - but insist that scenario is not expected to become a problem.

Szoboszlai’s status in world football continues to rise and, with that, so will his value.

His current salary sits below some of their new stars - such as Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike - who are believed to earn closer to £200,000 per week.

Talks with Szoboszlai’s representatives are expected to move forward steadily this season, with confidence that a fresh and fair agreement will be reached.

Liverpool have no intention of letting one of their most influential players leave.

They are building a super-squad - not losing top stars.
