The big result saw Liverpool slump to another defeat, this time at home to rivals Manchester United as they were beaten 2-1 at Anfield, meaning Arsenal built a three-point lead at the top after a 1-0 win at Fulham.

Elsewhere, visiting Chelsea piled more misery on Nottingham Forest with a 3-0 romp, Aston Villa beat Tottenham 2-1 away and Crystal Palace and Bournemouth played out a wild 3-3 draw.

Midfielders

Pedro Neto (Chelsea) - 8.9

Georginio Rutter (Brighton) - 7.9

Brighton's Georginio Rutter made his mark with a battling performance as the Seagulls saw off Newcastle 2-1.

The 23-year-old ran tirelessly in his 71 minutes on the pitch and slipped in Danny Welbeck with a perfect through ball for Brighton's opening goal.

Emiliano Buendia (Aston Villa) - 8.0

Coming off the substitutes' bench in the second half, Emiliano Buendia made the impact Unai Emery would have wanted as Aston Villa sneaked past Tottenham.

The Argentine cut in from the right and curled a shot well into the far corner after a stunning pass from Matty Cash and a brilliant first touch from Lucas Digne in the build-up.

Forwards

Eli Junior Kroupi (Bournemouth) - 8.1

Brought into the starting lineup against Palace to replace the injured Evanilson, 19-year-old Eli Junior Kroupi made his opportunity count.
