After a bright start to the season, high-flying Brondby were pegged back when they were dealt a 2-0 defeat at home against Viborg. FC Midtjylland saved a point in Aarhus despite receiving a red card in the second half. Silkeborg's dreadful season start continued against Randers while Sonderjyske recorded their first win of the season against FC Nordsjaelland.

Randers - Silkeborg (1-0)

Silkeborg on Sunday suffered their third successive defeat in the Danish Superliga to Randers without having scored a single goal during the first three matchdays. Silkeborg came away with a hard-fought win in extra time against KA Akureyri in the qualification for the Conference League on Thursday, and they also began on a bright note today, creating several chances without being able to make the most of them. But then after 18 minutes, Randers turned the tide in their favour when they were handed a penalty after Silkeborg's Leonel Montano brought down Wessel Dammers, and Mohamed Touré kept his cool to put the home side in front. Silkeborg had plenty of chances to get themselves back in the game but lacked composure in the decisive moments.

Sonderjyske - FC Nordsjaelland (3-2)

Sonderjyske got their first win of the season with a surprising 3-2 win against FC Nordsjaelland after a humiliating 6-2 defeat against FC Midtjylland last week. The visitors otherwise looked to be headed for three points at the beginning of the second half when they were in control with the score locked at 1-1, as Danish international defender Lucas Hogsberg made a terrible back pass for his keeper, which was intercepted by Matthew Hoppe and turned into a 2-1 lead. Mohamed Cherif then extended the lead with a superb long-range stinging drive in the final minute before Tobias Salquist cut the deficit in the final seconds. But it was too little too late for the visitors.

AGF - FC Midtjylland (0-0)

FC Midtjylland must have arrived in Aarhus with tired legs after they played 120 minutes of football against Hibernian in the Europa League qualification on Thursday. But they needed all their physical resources after they were reduced to ten men after Edward Chilufya saw red in the first after a poor challenge against Kristian Arnstad. The red card put the home side solidly in control for the rest of the match, and while AGF did not launch a siege on FC Midtjylland, they produced enough chances to win the game comfortably. The home side got their best chance to win the match when they were handed a penalty after 64 minutes when Oliver Sorensen brought down Tobias Bech in the box. But Patrick Mortensen failed to convert from the 11-meter spot for the third successive time as the match ended goalless.

Brondby - Viborg (0-2)

Brondby went into the match against struggling Viborg high on confidence after winning their first two domestic matches of the season. But against expectation, Viborg put on a strong performance in the first half to withstand the pressure from the home side, and the visitors were duly rewarded on the stroke of half-time when Anosike Ementa headed the rebound from a save from Brondby-keeper Patrick Pentz into the path of Yonis Njoh, who scored easily. With their five-man rearguard, Bondby needed the extra man in midfield, where Viborg were left plenty of time and space to set up their second goal when Hjalte Bidstrup fed the onrushing Ementa to chip the ball over the helpless Pentz. Brondby tried to get back into the match, but Viborg were never troubled defensively as they recorded their first win of the season.
