Lars Seier Christensen, major shareholder in FC Copenhagen, has come under heavy fire following comments he made in the wake of the heated public exchange of words between U.S. President Donald Trup and Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the Oval Office in Washington on Saturday.

The Danish business tycoon who owns 22.55 per cent of the shares in PARKEN Sport & Entertainment, the company behind FC Copenhagen, was very critical of Zelenskyy following the controversial debate and wrote on Facebook:

"Zelenskyy interrupts Trump and shows zero respect for the hand that feeds his fight for survival," wrote Lars Seier Christensen in his post.

Lars Seier Christensen also addressed European heads of government such as Danish Prime Minister, Mette Frederiksen, who praises Zelenskyy.

'It was a fatal performance by Zelenskyy, who was so close to a good deal that was actually already at home. Hearing European leaders praise his leadership afterwards is comical. It was deeply incompetent, deeply insolent and deeply foolish of Zelenskyy," he wrote and encouraged Zelenskyy to make an apology to Donald Trump.

Seier Christensen's controversial statements has prompted a response from a number of prominent persons with relations to FC Copenhagen.

Former head coach Ståle Solbakken, who won eight Danish championships with the club and led them to the quarter-finals of the Champions League, says FC Copenhagen should not tolerate this kind of behavior from an investor:

"It is a huge problem for FCK's image and can do a lot of damage. Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the Ukrainian people have fought against the supremacy for three years - and then a man like Lars Seier comes and undermines it. It is undignified."says an upset Ståle Solbakken to Tipsbladet.

"I think it is incompatible with FCK's values."

Also Flemming Ostergaard, former Chairman of PARKEN Sport & Entertainment and former honorary member of the club has words of criticism for Seier Christensen:

"If Lars and his followers can't see that Trump is a self-absorbed, power-hungry, lying, vindictive and opportunistic person with rhetoric that belongs far from decent political debate, then I just have to say goodbye."

The official fan club for FC Copenhagen has also distanced themselves from Seier Christensen's comments. The club itself has so far not wished to comment on Seier Christensen's post.

FC Copenhagen currently leads the Danish Superliga, one point ahead of FC Midtjylland.
