In a press release, AaB write that the 43-year-old Kristoffer Wichmann will replace Menno van Dam. He has signed a contract valid until the summer of 2027.
Wichmann was most recently assistant to Bo Svensson at Bundesliga club Union Berlin until the duo was sacked at the end of December last year.
As an active player, he played for clubs such as Hvidovre, Fremad Amager and FC Vestsjaelland. Wichmann is also remembered for being punished with a six-month suspension and a fine of 30,000 Danish kroner (approx. 4000 EUROs) for betting on matches he himself was involved in.
AaB had a reasonable start to the season under Menno van Dam's leadership, but since the turn of the year the North Jutland team have struggled.
They have had three defeats in the last five games and two draws. And if you look over the last 17 league games, AaB has only left the field as winners once.
The team is just three points behind Lyngby in the relegation zone of the Danish Superliga with hust five matches left to play.
