The prosecution is seeking to have FC Copenhagen's Mexican winger Rodrigo Huescas deported from Denmark after he has been charged with reckless driving in the central part of Copenhagen.

The prosecution is seeking to have FC Copenhagen's Rodrigo Huescas expelled from Denmark, says the Copenhagen Police B.T.

On Thursday, the Copenhagen Police informed B.T. that a statement has been sent to the court with a request to deport the right-back.

The Mexican right-back has been charged with reckless driving after he was allegedly driving at 111 km/h in a 50 km/h zone at Kalvebod Brygge in a central part of Copenhagen.

Until now it was mentioned that he could be sentenced to 20 days in prison without parole. In addition, his leased BMW could be confiscated.

But now there is a potential much harsher punishment in play as he could be deported from Denmark.

Defense lawyer Mikkel Cramer, who does not represent Huescas, told Viaplay Sport News on that occasion:

"I think there is a risk (of deportation, ed.) in this case, but it depends entirely on whether the prosecution has filed a request for deportation."

He also said that, they would look at how strong a connection Huescas has to Denmark. The 21-year-old Mexican signed for FC Copenhagen in the summer of 2024 from Cruz Azul

Huescas' case is due to go to court on April 28.
