The Portuguese Football Federation revealed that Diogo Dalot felt muscle discomfort and was released from Portugal duty on Thursday morning. The Manchester United full-back will therefore miss the matches against Armenia and Hungary.

Nuno Tavares has been called up in his place. The Lazio left-back will join the national team squad this Thursday in Yerevan, where he is travelling directly from Rome.

Portugal kick off Group F qualifying for the 2026 World Cup against Armenia on Saturday at 18:00 CET. That is followed by a match in Budapest against Hungary at 20:45 CET on Tuesday.
