Danish national team coach Brian Riemer says that it has turned into a big problem for Denmark that Christian Eriksen still hasn't found a new club.

Christian Eriksen's contract with Manchester United expired on 30 June, and he has been without an employer since then. He has been linked with several different clubs, but he has not yet signed anything.

On Monday, Brian Riemer selects the Danish national team squad for the matches against Scotland and Greece, and he won't reveal whether the squad will include Eriksen.

It's far from an optimal situation that the midfield orchestrator is still searching for a new club, admits Riemer, who is working hard to put together the final preparations for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers in September.

"Of course, it is a big problem for Christian and for us that a player with over 140 international caps - who has done a fantastic job for this nation for many years - suddenly finds himself in this difficult situation. It will also be a problem for us. It would be completely crazy of me to say otherwise."

"Christian has not been able to find the the right place yet, and that means that since we parted ways in June, he has not trained at a club and he has not played any matches. If I said that it was not a challenge, it would all be completely irrelevant", Riemer tells TV 2 Sport.

The Danish national team squad will assemble in Helsingor on 1 September, and will face Scotland in the Parken stadium in Copenhagen four days later. Then on 8 September Denmark will face Greece away.
