Alexander Isak has spent the majority of the summer on a form of strike as he attempts to engineer a move to Liverpool by refusing to rejoin the Newcastle squad for training.
Despite that, he is included in the squad for Sweden's national team's World Cup qualifiers against Slovenia and Kosovo in September.
"It is not a perfect situation", said Jon Dahl Tomasson on a press conference when the squad was announced.
It remains to be seen how Isak's situation in the club team develops, but it is clear that he will represent Sweden in the World Cup qualifiers in September.
On Wednesday, Isak was named in Tomasson's squad to play against Slovenia and Kosovo.
"Newcastle can't stop him, and it's not a perfect situation. But Alexander is very professional, has worked hard, and is a game changer", says Jon Dahl Tomasson.
However, the Swedish national team coach will not say anything about his view of Isak's strike.
"I find it difficult to have an opinion about what is happening with Alexander in Newcastle. I have to be very careful to draw any conclusions, we all have to, because we don't have the whole picture", he says.
It is clear, however, that Isak cannot be expected to play full time in both of these two qualifying matches.
"He will not play 90 minutes in both matches. Absolutely not", says Tomasson.
Sweden will face Slovenia in Ljubliana on 5 September and Kosovo away on 8 September.
