The top seeds on the WTA and ATP tour begin their Cincinnati journey this weekend, with Carlos Alcaraz, Alex De Minaur and Coco Gauff in action on a fascinating Sunday.

04:45 CET - Karolina Muchova wins two tiebreaks against Caroline Garcia 7-6 (3), 7-6 (0) to make it through in the last match of the day in Cincinnati.

04:40 CET - Alexander Zverev marches on to the third round in Cincinnati after defeating Nishesh Basavareddy 6-3, 6-3.

03:10 CET - Barbora Krejcikova comes from a set down to knock out Elina Svitolina 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 in the blockbuster match of the round in Cincinnati.

Brandon Nakashima also advances in a 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (5) victory over Alexander Blockx.

02:35 CET - Karen Khachanov marches on in Cincinnati as the Toronto runner up takes out Valentin Royer 6-4, 7-6 (6) in just under two hours.

02:10 CET - Sofia Kenin is knocked out in the second round in Cincinnati as world number 103 Varvara Grachva defeats her 6-7 (7), 6-3, 6-3.

Toronto winner Ben Shelton is through to the third round after his opponent Ugo Carabellli retires. The American was up 6-3, 3-1.

00:55 CET - The number 29 seed McCartney Kessler is through to the third round after she beats fellow American Caty McNally 6-4, 6-3.

00:50 CET - Italian Luca Nardi moves on as he defeats Dennis Shapovalov 6-7 (5), 6-4, 6-3 as he progresses to the third round in Cincinnati.

00:35 CET - We have an upset in Cincinnati, as Adam Walton recovers from dropping the first set to defeat Daniil Medvedev 6-7 (0), 6-4, 6-1 to advance to the third round.

23:53 CET - The supremely talented 17-year-old starlet Iva Jovic has just claimed the biggest victory of her young career, dismantling world number 23 Linda Noskova 6-3, 6-0 to move into the third round of a WTA 1000 event for the first time. 

23:06 CET - Lucia Bronzetti has upset 15th seed Daria Kasatkina, clinching the win after a final set slugfest, 6-3, 1-6, 6-4.

22:58 CET - Carlos Alcaraz was nowhere near his best as he shook the cobwebs off, but the Spaniard still managed a hard-fought 6-1, 2-6, 6-3 victory over Damir Dzumhur. The Spaniard is eyeing his first title in Cincinnati after losing an epic final to Novak Djokovic in 2023.

22:37 CET - World number four Jessica Pegula has eased into the third round in Cincinnati, comfortably beating Kimberly Birrell in an hour and 20 minutes, 6-4, 6-3.

22:05 CET - Coming off the back of her semi-final run in Montreal last week, Clara Tauson has battled past Ajla Tomljanovic in a really tight clash, eventually getting the better of her Australian opponent 6-3, 6-7(5), 6-4.

21:41 CET - 20-year-old qualifier Ella Seidel has just caused a seismic upset in Cincinnati, stunning eighth seed Emma Navarro from a double break down in the third set to win 6-4, 1-6, 6-4. The German reeled off five straight games as she moved into the third round.

21:15 CET - Veteran Roberto Bautista Agut didn't have too many issues against Cameron Norrie, beating the Brit in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3.

20:55 CET - World number two Coco Gauff is off and running in Cincinnati, easing to a 6-3, 6-2 win over Xinyu Wang to seal her spot in the third round. 

Ninth seed Andrey Rublev also claimed a win, fending off young American talent Learner Tien 7-6(4), 6-3 in an hour and three quarters.

20:48 CET - 19-year-old Jakub Mensik has cruised into the Cincinnati third round, swatting aside Ethan Quinn in an hour and a quarter, 6-4, 6-2.

20:29 CET - Some more disappointing withdrawal news to report, with Marta Kostyuk announcing that she is pulling out of the tournament with a wrist injury ahead of her clash with Iga Swiatek tomorrow. Hopefully she can get fit before the US Open gets underway.

20:13 CET - 31st seed Magda Linette is the next player through to the third round after two very contrasting sets against Rebecca Sramkova, downing the Slovakian 7-6(4), 6-0.

19:25 CET - Jelena Ostapenko has moved into the third round without even having to pick up a racket after her opponent, Camila Osorio, withdrew from their clash.

19:22 CET - Jasmine Paolini was given a stern test by Maria Sakkari, squandering a 5-1 lead in the first set before eventually grinding out a 7-6(2), 7-6(5) win.

Dayana Yamstremska also progressed through to the third round, defeating Viktoriya Tomova 6-4, 2-6, 6-2.

19:07 CET - Veronika Kudermertova has secured a fine win in Cincinnati, overcoming recent Wimbledon semi-finalist Belinda Bencic 6-4, 7-6(0) in exactly two hours.

Meanwhile, Jiri Lehecka had to battle back from a set down to clinch a 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 victory over Tristan Boyer.

19:02 CET - Ashlyn Krueger had to compose herself after being bagelled in the second set, but in the end, she ultimately had too much for Latvian Anastasija Sevastova, winning 6-4, 0-6, 6-3 to move into the third round in Cincinnati.

18:53 CET - The first result of the day is in, and there has been a major upset! Sixth seed Alex de Minaur has been stunned by Reilly Opelka, with the big-serving American dumping out the Aussie 7-6(6), 6-4 in an hour and 40 minutes.

17:04 CET - Players are out on the court now in Cincinnati and proceedings are about to get underway!

13:30 CET - There are some massive names in action this evening on the WTA tournament too. Starting the day is a fascinating match between seventh seed Jasmine Paolini and Maria Sakkari, who is slowly building some form together.

A bit later on, Coco Gauff begins her bid at Cincinnati against Xinyu Wang as the world number two looks to bounce back from the disappointment of Montreal.

Elsewhere on the ATP side of the tournament, a fascinating clash takes place between two experienced players on the tour as Roberto Bautista-Agut takes on Cam Norrie

Later in the evening, world number two Carlos Alcaraz makes his return to action after the disappointment of losing the Wimbledon final to Jannik Sinner last month.

The Spaniard faces Damir Dzumhur in what should be a comfortable opening match.
