Rising Australian teen Maya Joint knocked out third seed Clara Tauson 6-0, 6-3 to move into the semifinals of the Korea Open.

The 22-year-old Dane, who was seeded third in the tournament, was soundly beaten in the quarter-finals 0-6, 3-6 in a match that lasted one hour and 13 minutes.

While Tauson is currently enjoying her highest ranking ever, 12th in the WTA rankings, the Australian is ranked 34 places lower; however, this was not evident at all in the match early Saturday morning CET.

The match was originally due to be played on Friday, but rain over the South Korean capital thwarted that plan and postponed the match to Saturday morning.

From the start, Tauson looked like someone who hadn't quite recovered from that layoff, as she never got her footing in the first set.

Joint dominated every game, and the Australian finished off the first set by breaking Tauson's serve for the third time out of a possible three in a set that lasted just 23 minutes.

In the second set, Tauson got off to a better start when she broke the Australian teen in the first game.

Subsequently, Tauson settled a bit better into her normal, stylish stride, but her momentum came to a halt when she was leading 3-1 in the second set as Joint began dominating every point as the Danish favorite made a string of unforced errors.

Tauson was broken twice, and the Australian closed the match at the first opportunity to win five successive games against a visibly deflated Tauson.
