Elsewhere, Joao Fonseca, Marketa Vondrousova and Venus Williams take to the court as the Cincinnati Open gets underway.

02:50 CET - A hard-fought first set in the ATP Toronto final goes Karen Khachanov's way, as he wins in a tiebreak (7-5) over Ben Shelton. Follow the match here.

02:15 CET - And Canada has a new champion!! Eighteen-year-old wildcard Victoria Mboko battles her way back from a set down to get the better of Naomi Osaka 2-6, 6-4, 6-1. It was the fourth time that she defeated a former grand slam champion en route to glory in Montreal.

Now, let's see what the finals in Montreal and Toronto have in store for us!

23:46 CET - Play in Cincinnati has been interrupted due to rain, but there's no such rain north of the border, where Naomi Osaka is about to contest her biggest match in a long time in Montreal.

The Japanese star is looking to win her first title on the WTA Tour since 2021 tonight, but will have to beat 18-year-old sensation and home hero Victoria Mboko to do so.

Whichever way this final goes, it will be a huge story.

It begins in just over 10 minutes, and you can follow every point of it here.

23:33 CET - Wildcard Bernarda Pera has been beaten on home turf by Eva Lys, losing 6-2, 4-6, 7-5 to the young German.

22:53 CET - Elsewhere in Cincinnati, world number 110 Aoi Ito has beaten Elena Gabriela Ruse 6-2, 7-6.

22:46 CET - She more than held her own, but Venus Williams has fallen at the first hurdle in Cincinnati, losing 6-4, 6-4 to Jessica Bouzas Maneiro in an hour and a half.

Nevertheless, it remains remarkable that she's playing such a high level at her age having been out for such a long time, and we'll get to see her do it at the US Open in the mixed doubles at the very least.

22:15 CET - Qualifier Terence Atmane and Daniel Elahi Galan have cruised to a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Yoshihito Nishioka and a 6-2, 6-4 win over Vit Kopriva respectively.

21:19 CET - Zizou Bergs and Roman Safiullin have advanced with comfortable wins over Jacob Fearnley and Alejandro Tabilo respectively, with both prevailing in straight sets.

On Centre Court meanwhile, 45-year-old Venus Williams has just gotten underway in her first match at the tournament as she ramps up her shock comeback ahead of the US Open.

Follow her match here.

21:08 VET - 2023 Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova has advanced in Cincinnati with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Jaqueline Cristian, while Laura Siegemund has lost 6-4, 6-4 to Anastasia Potapova.

Next up for Vondrousova is world number one Aryna Sabalenka, whom she's won her last two matches against.

20:20 CET - In something of a surprise result, Matteo Arnaldi has lost 6-7, 6-3, 6-4 to Benjamin Bonzi in a gruelling battle that finished just a minute short of three hours.

Young French talent Giovanni Mpethsi Perricard is also out, having lost 6-3, 6-2 to Chinese qualifier Chak Lam Coleman Wong.

19:54 CET - Spain's Pedro Martinez and Roberto Carballes Baena are the latest men through after three-set victories over Nicolas Jarry and Hugo Gaston, respectively.

19:33 CET - Rising star Joao Fonseca has battled into the next round in Cincinnati, recovering from a set down to defeat Yunchaokete Bu 4-6, 6-2, 7-5.
