It's a big day for Italian tennis in Rome with Jannik Sinner looking to join Lorenzo Musetti in the men's semi-finals and Jasmine Paolini aiming to become the first woman from the nation to reach the final in over a decade.

00:28 CET - That's all from Rome for today, but tune back in tomorrow as the men's semi-finals get underway!

00:16 CET - It's taken over three and a half hours, but fourth seed Coco Gauff has edged Zheng Qinwen 7-6, 4-6, 7-6 to book her spot in the Italian Open final.

Zheng, who defeated top seed Aryna Sabalenka in the quarter-finals, roared back in the second set after losing the first, but Gauff was too strong in what was an epic affair.

The American will take on home hope Jasmine Paolini in the final.

20:25 CET - The last match on the agenda today in Rome is the second women's semi-final between Coco Gauff and Zheng Qinwen. The winner will take on Jasmine Paolini in the final.

Follow that match live here.

20:19 CET - Jannik Sinner has absolutely destroyed Casper Ruud 6-0, 6-1 in just a little over an hour to cruise into the semi-finals of the Italian Open. He needed only 28 minutes to win the first set, and the second didn't take too much longer.

The funny thing is, Ruud had been showing some good form of late, even winning in Madrid... I guess it just goes to show how much better Sinner is at the moment than his peers.

Next up for the Italian is a meeting with the 11th seed Tommy Paul for a place in the final. It's pretty hard to imagine anyone stopping Sinner after tonight's showing, though.

19:43 CET - Wow. Jannik Sinner has just treated his many fans in the crowd to an absolutely remarkable set of tennis.

The world number one leads Casper Ruud 6-0 after just 28 minutes and has lost only seven sets. That is some start to this quarter-final.

17:15 CET - Jasmine Paolini is an Italian Open finalist! The sixth seed stepped things up in the second set to beat Peyton Stearns 7-5, 6-1 and move to within one win of the biggest title of her career.

16:43 CET - What a fightback from Paolini! The Italian trailed 4-1 in the opening set and faced three set points, but kept her cool and turned things around to win it 7-5!

15:40 CET - The first women's semi-final is underway! Can Jasmine Paolini give the home crowd something to cheer for or will Peyton Stearns continue her incredible run?

Follow every point of the match here.

15:10 CET - 11th seed Tommy Paul is into the final four in Rome after defeating Hubert Hurkacz 7-6, 6-3.

The American is the third man to progress to the semis and will face the winner of top seed Jannik Sinner and Casper Ruud for a place in the final. Those two face off later today.

Next up, though, Italian Jasmine Paolini will look to become the nation's first women's finalist since 2014 when she faces Peyton Stearns in the first women's semi-final.

13:17 CET - We're underway in the Italian capital! Follow the third of the men's quarter-finals here.
