23:32 CET - Carlos Alcaraz is the US Open champion! The Spaniard was in truly unplayable form, producing a masterclass in ball striking and serving, blowing defending champion Jannik Sinner off the court to win 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 in a little over two hours and 40 minutes.
Alcaraz has looked in pristine form all tournament, and this performance proved too much for Sinner, who struggled with his serve all match.
As a result, it is Alcaraz's sixth Grand Slam title, and his second here at Flushing Meadows. He also regains the world number ranking, taking the spot from Sinner.
22:39 CET - The topsy-turvy nature of this match continues, with Carlos Alcaraz going up a gear to take the third set 6-1 in such crushing fashion. Jannik Sinner is in trouble now, with Alcaraz a set away from his second US Open title, his sixth Grand Slam and the world number ranking.
22:09 CET - Jannik Sinner responds exactly as you would expect! The world number one has played brilliantly in this second set to clinch it 6-3, and we are now level. He has found his best form, and Carlos Alcaraz will need to recollect himself now.
21:27 CET - My word, what a set of tennis Carlos Alcaraz has just produced! The Spaniard was truly extraordinary, pummeling a struggling Jannik Sinner into the ground to take the first set 6-2. Can the Italian fight back?
20:48 CET - The warm-up is complete and the players are ready. Jannik Sinner to serve. Game on!
20:39 CET - Right then, the stadium may be far from full as fans are still queuing up, but the players are heading onto court, nonetheless. Not the best look for the US Open, but proceedings are about to get underway.
20:02 CET - Chaotic scenes outside Flushing Meadows, where fans are still waiting to get inside the stadium for the final. Currently, we are expecting the game to begin at 20:37 CET, but don't hold your breath that this won't be moved back again.

19:45 CET - The start of the US Open men's final has been delayed by 30 minutes because of increased security measures with US President Donald Trump in attendance today.
18:33 CET - With around an hour and a half until proceedings get underway, let's take a look at how both players got to the final.
World number one Jannik Sinner hasn't been at his usual best this tournament, but has still been relatively untested. The Italian has seen off Alexander Bublik and Lorenzo Musetti in straight sets, but was pushed by the Canadian duo of Denis Shapovalov and Felix Auger-Aliassime, dropping a set against both of them.
Meanwhile, Carlos Alcaraz has been faultless. The Spaniard is yet to drop a set, swatting aside the likes of Novak Djokovic, Jiri Lehecka and Arthur Rinderknech. He has a chance to become the first man to ever win the US Open without losing a set.
16:05 CET - We have arrived at the 15th and final day of the US Open, and it is fitting that the men's final pits the best two players in the world - by some distance - against each other.
World number one and defending champion Jannik Sinner faces his arch-rival Carlos Alcaraz in the showpiece event, and after their recent meetings in the French Open and Wimbledon finals, this one promises to be another epic.
Sinner will be looking to become the first man since Roger Federer in 2008 to win back-to-back US Open titles, which would also be his fifth Grand Slam overall. Meanwhile, Alcaraz is also targeting his second here at Flushing Meadows, as well as his sixth major title.
Just this year, Alcaraz defeated Sinner in Paris before the Italian reversed the result in London, but this meeting holds added significance, as the winner will move up to number one in the world rankings.
Alcaraz leads the head-to-head 9-5, but Sinner is on a 27-match winning streak at hard-court majors, stretching back to the Australian Open in 2024.
