The Pittsburgh Pirates are calling up the No. 1 prospect in baseball, Konnor Griffin (19), to their Double-A affiliate - the Altoona Curve.

Griffin was slashing a stellar .332/.414/.524 with 16 home runs, 72 RBI, and a jaw-dropping 59 stolen bases through 50 games in Single-A and 51 games in High-A ball.

The former No. 9 overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft has been showing everyone why he's the No. 1 prospect in all of baseball.

Altoona has 24 games remaining on their schedule and currently hold the best record (26-18) within the Eastern League Southwest division for the second half of the season - meaning the Curve are looking to Griffin to give them a boost to keep their playoff hopes alive.

The Curve came out of the first half rough with a 30-38 record, second worst in the Southwest division.

To explain, Double-A baseball splits the season into a first half and a second half. The MiLB describes the format and how teams qualify as such:

"The 2025 Postseason at Double-A will consist of four teams per league in a best-of-3 Division series, followed by a best-of-three Championship series. The four playoff participants per league will be the winners of each division from both halves based on the best winning percentage of each half. In the event the same Club wins both halves, the Club with the next best winning percentage in the second half will advance."

So, if the Curve can maintain their first-place standing, they'll make the playoffs.
