Vanderbilt's Eli Stowers became the first in program history to win the John Mackey Award for best tight end in the nation on Friday.

Stowers led all tight ends this past season with 768 receiving yards, paired with four touchdowns on 62 receptions. The Senior has yet to declare for the 2026 NFL Draft, but is widely regarded as the No. 1 tight end that would enter the class.

He is projected to be a second-round pick on some boards, and a third-rounder on others.

Stowers put up 638 yards and five touchdowns on 49 receptions in 2024 after transferring from New Mexico State University

He set a single-game career-high in targets (12), receiving yards (146), and touchdowns (2) in their 34-31 loss to Texas this season.

Over his collegiate career, Stowers has posted a total of 146 receptions, 1,773 yards, and 11 touchdowns, never once averaging below 10.0 yards per reception in a single season.

Recent John Mackey Award winners include Las Vegas Raiders' Brock BowersArizona Cardinals' Trey McBride, who leads all current NFL tight ends in both receiving yards and touchdowns, while being tied for the league lead with 93 receptions, and Baltimore Ravens' All-Pro Mark Andrews, who just signed a $39.3 million extension.
