Doueihi sensationally exited Tigers' training last Tuesday and made himself unavailable for selection in the Tigers' 56-10 loss to Canberra in response to news that he was being moved to starting lock to accommodate a debut for uncapped 19-year-old half Javon Andrews, who is competing with the likes of Jock Madden and Doueihi himself to replace departing co-captain Jarome Luai at the end of 2026.
Media coverage of the stoush dragged on throughout the week and spilled over into Monday morning, where reporters were waiting outside Tigers HQ Concord Oval to interrogate the involved parties.
Marshall and Doueihi met on Monday morning to work towards a resolution and it appeared to have taken an advanced step forward when CEO Shaun Mielekamp confirmed in a very brief statement that Doueihi will be attending club training tomorrow, although his words did not necessarily suggest the stoush was dead and buried.
"Benji Marshall, Pat Richards (senior NRL manager) and myself met with Adam Doueihi and his agent," Mielekamp said.
"It was a very positive and productive meeting. Adam will be at training tomorrow, which is a very good sign.
"What's really important is that what was said in that room stays in that room. That's really important for us as a club. We're doing what's best for the club."
The naming of the team at 4pm AEST on Tuesday will be eagerly anticipated to see if Doueihi is going to be a Tiger beyond this week let alone after 2026.
