The San Francisco 49ers are one of the only unbeaten teams remaining in the NFL, and on Monday Night Football, they kept it that way with a victory over a game Washington Commanders.

Week 6 in the NFL was once again chaotic, exciting and delivered some thrilling matchups, and for the second straight week, Monday Night Football was absolutely no different.

This time around, it was the Washington Commanders (1-4-1) visiting the San Francisco 49ers (6-0), who are not only undefeated on the year, but are a dominant 4-0 at home to start 2026. While they're unbeaten, the 49ers have not been blowing teams out, as they've had to work hard for every victory, and against a team with just one win on the season, it was much the same here.

The defeat wasn't for a lack of trying from Commanders QB Jayden Daniels, who was fantastic in all areas on the night, going 29/40 for 300 yards, two Touchdowns and no interceptions, although Washington left it a bit too late, as those two scores came in the third and fourth quarter after just 3 points in the first half.

After fighting from behind all night, the Commanders cut the deficit to just one score, but in the dying moments, it was San Francisco's defense, ranked fourth in the NFL in points allowed this season that came up clutch, denying Daniels the opportunity for a very dramatic comeback.

The offense that San Francisco did get came from star running back Christian McCaffrey, who was once again electric, tallying 117 yards of total offense with two rushing touchdowns, continuing what has been another stellar start.

While most of that offense came in a 20 point first half, the team protected the ball well for much of the second half, as the team led by Brock Purdy were once again clinical, getting on top of their opponents and simply not giving them the chance to comeback at all throughout the game.

In four games played at home this season, the 49ers are a perfect 4-0, outscoring their opponents by a combined 44 points in that time, and as a result, they remain the only unbeaten team in the NFL through the first six games of the 2026 campaign.

Next week, the 49ers will hit the road to take on the Atlanta Falcons, and while the Commanders are just 1-4-1 on the season thus far, with the NFC East being wide open behind the division leading Giants at 3-2-1, they have a chance to get much closer as they battle the Philadelphia Eagles at home in Week 7.
