The World No. 2, Anders Antonsen, who won the Arctic Open final on Sunday, says that he is not pleased with the conditions at the arena for the Denmark Open.

Anders Antonsen was anything but satisfied after playing his first-round match at the Denmark Open on Wednesday where he won 16-21, 21-11, 21-18 over Lee Cheuk Yiu from Hong Kong.

Although the Danish star did win, he does not believe the conditions at the SJF Bank Arena in Odense are optimal.

"I find it extreme in there. It’s almost destructive to the game. I was actually wondering whether they should try to find somewhere else to host the Denmark Open."

“The shuttle travels downwards, so it is incredibly difficult to time your attacks. Just look at how many shots end up in the net when you are on the side with the tailwind. That’s because the shuttle takes a dip right before you hit it", he says to TV2 Sport.

During the first few days of the Super 750 tournament, the players have struggled to manage the wind conditions. Openings in the arena and the air conditioning create a breeze that runs along the length of the courts, resulting in a side with a tailwind and a side with a headwind.

Antonsen wil face Hong Kongs Jason Gunawan in the Round of 16 at the tournament today.
