Over in France, Ligue 1 champions PSG needed two late goals to salvage a 2-2 draw against Lille, meaning they are now winless in three matches since the UEFA Super Cup, quite incredibly.

Bayern Munich kicked off the Bundesliga season in some style by thrashing Stuttgart 5-1 in the Südderby, a menacing start to their title defence.

Elsewhere, AC Milan downed Venezia 2-0 in Serie A, while Racing Santander and Deportivo Alaves both picked up encouraging wins in LaLiga.
