Dylan van Baarle who won the 2022 Paris-Roubaix will not be racing any more this season after the Soudal Quick-Step rider was involved in a road traffic accident with a car while training in the Netherlands.

Following the incident Dylan was taken to hospital where he underwent a CT scan, which has fortunately revealed no damage to his skull and spine, says the Soudal-Quickstepteam

He did however sustain a fracture to his wrist, which will require surgery and mean an end to his season.

On Instagram, Dylan van Baarle’s fiancée—Visma star Pauline Ferrand-Prévot—reveals that the situation could have ended much worse.

"He took a hard blow to the head, and his helmet undoubtedly saved his life. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻"

The former world champion concludes her Instagram story by commenting on their upcoming wedding later this month.

"I’ll be sleeping alone for the next few nights, but I suppose that’s the tradition before the big wedding day."

Van Baarle joined Soudal Quick-Step for 2026 on a deal running through the end of 2027, having previously spent three seasons with Visma | Lease a Bike.
