New York Rangers 5-2 Anaheim Ducks
The New York Rangers (6-3-1) haven't lost a step since losing their biggest star, and on Monday they showed just how dangerous they can still be, tallying four goals in the first two periods to take down the Anaheim Ducks (4-3-0). The biggest star of the show once again was Alexis Lafreniere with two assists, with Oliver Bjorkstrand also adding two goals to get the Rangers to five once more.
Each team tallied 30 shots, but it wasn't until late in the third that the Ducks found the back of the net, but tallies to both Nick Jensen and A.J. Greer certainly weren't enough as Anaheim fell flat on the road, losing 5-2.
Philadelphia Flyers 3-2 Colorado Avalanche
In the NHL, absolutely anything can happen, but when the Philadelphia Flyers (2-6-3) stepped up to take on the Colorado Avalanche (5-3-1), even with home ice advantage, an upset certainly wasn't what anyone saw coming. However, the Avs were sloppy early, and the Flyers were happy to take advantage, with Matvei Michkov once again leading the charge with two early goals to get Philadelphia on the board.
While Colorado certainly put up a fight, Joseph Woll stopped 24 of the 26 shots that were put on net, and as a result, the Flyers picked up their second victory of the season, with the NHL world being shocked for the second time in 24 hours.
Toronto Maple Leafs 3-1 San Jose Sharks
The Toronto Maple Leafs (3-4-2) have fallen short of expectations early in 2026/27, but on Monday, they got the opportunity to bounce back against a team on the rise in the San Jose Sharks (4-4-1). If the team are to find consistency, it will come from their stars, and on Monday that's exactly what happened, with Auston Matthews (1G, 2A), William Nylander (1A) and Gavin McKenna (1G) all stepping up to deliver huge.
While the Sharks got on the board first through Mason Marchment, they couldn't find any other offense, with Sergei Bobrovsky (30/31 saves) having his best night of the year, leading the Maple Leafs to a much needed victory on home ice.
Utah Mammoth 5-4 Pittsburgh Penguins
The Utah Mammoth (7-3-0) have been off to an incredible start in 2026/27 thanks to one of the NHL's best offensive units, and on Monday, they flexed their goal scoring muscles on the Pittsburgh Penguins (3-6-1) at home. In scoring five goals, the Mammoth had five different goal scorers, with 11 players finding the scoresheet on the night, four of whom had multiple points on the night.
Despite leading 5-2 early in the third period, the Penguins fought back bravely in the final frame, with goals to Egor Chinakhov and Declan Carlile making it close, but in the end, Sebastian Cossa and one of the NHL's most exciting young teams managed to hold off the experienced Penguins for the dramatic win.
