Sacramento Kings guard Ben Simmons is believed to have torn his Achilles during the team's practice on Sunday.

Simmons, 30, signed a one-year, $3.5 million deal with the Kings this offseason. He's coming off a preseason game against the Spurs in which he put up 14 points (5-9 FG, 4-4 FT), eight rebounds, seven assists, and one steal in 26 minutes.

He signed with the Kings, looking to revitalize what a lot call a disappointing career after taking last season off to focus on his mental and physical health. Simmons last played for the Los Angeles Clippers (33 games) and Brooklyn Nets (18 games) during the 2024-2025 season.

During that year, he posted a career-low 5.0 points per game.

The 2017-2018 Rookie of the Year was once looking to be one of the league's new superstars. In the following three seasons, Simmons went on to become a three-time All-Star and two-time All-Defensive, also being selected to the 2019-2020 All-NBA Team after leading the league in steals.

Then, after holding out of the 2021-2022 season and dealing with back injuries, Simmons was never the same player. He failed to finish each of the next two seasons with more than 7.0 points per game and shot 44% below at the line in both as well.

Now, his career itself may be in jeopardy.
