Goalkeeper

Thijs Jansen (Cambuur) - 9.3

Thijs Jansen delivered a spectacular performance, earning the joint-highest rating in the Eredivisie last weekend. The stopper recorded six saves, four of which came on big chances. The first was the pick of the bunch - a spectacular reflex to a header from PEC Zwolle striker Koen Kostons. He did enough to keep a second clean sheet and earn Cambuur's second win of the season.

Defenders

Marco Rente (FC Groningen) - 8.6

He's not known for his attacking prowess, but Marco Rente was excellent up front for FC Groningen last weekend. In his side's 5-1 win over Excelsior, Rente bagged a brace and held the line with two interceptions, six clearances, and three recoveries.

Ryan Flamingo (PSV) - 8.2

Flamingo was given his first start since late August and made it count. The young defender led his team with four won tackles, six clearances, 12 accurate passes into the final third, and 86 touches, helping PSV keep a clean sheet in their 2-0 home win over Heerenveen.

Abdelnour Soualhia (Telstar) - 8.5

Soualhia has been an excellent addition to Telstar's defence, and the AZ loanee was once again crucial for the White Lions. The Frenchman won 10 of 13 duels, made 7 recoveries, and was heavily involved in possession, with 87 accurate passes (92%), 112 touches, and 15 progressive carries in the 2-2 draw against ADO Den Haag.

Billy van Duijl (Cambuur) - 8.3

Another AZ loanee who impressed over the weekend was Billy van Duijl, who did everything in Cambuur's backline to ensure the team's first away win of the campaign. The 21-year-old finished a brilliant display with two last-man tackles, one block, 64 accurate passes (80%), 89 touches, and one big chance created.

Midfielders

Isaac Babadi (Sparta Rotterdam) - 9.0

Isaac Babadi was long tipped to be the next best thing from the PSV academy, but his development took a little longer under Peter Bosz. The young midfielder was loaned to Sparta Rotterdam in his latest move, and so far, it has paid dividends. In Sparta's 3-3 draw away at Go Ahead Eagles, Babadi recorded two assists and created three big chances, while showcasing a great work rate with two interceptions and 11 progressive carries.

Julian Brandt (Ajax) - 8.0

Ajax failed to win a home game for the fourth time in five attempts this season, but that wasn't down to Julian Brandt. The German star created five total chances and tallied eight key passes, while also leading everyone in expected assists (0.43), passes into the box (6), and passes in the final third (14). All for it to end in a 1-1 draw against NEC Nijmegen.

Tyrone Owusu (Telstar) - 9.1

Everything started and ended with Telstar's Tyrone Owusu. The midfielder eluded ADO's backline and was brought down by Milan Hokke, earning the latter a red card. Owusu scored a beauty from the ensuing free-kick, then added a 2-2 later in the half with a long-range stunner.

That wasn't his only contribution, however, with Owusu recording 5 key passes, 65 accurate passes (81%), 95 touches, and 4 recoveries.

Yoann Cathline (FC Utrecht) - 9.3 (PotW)

It's already been a long, long season for FC Utrecht. From playing in the UEFA Europa League last season to playing bottom-of-the-barrel football and losing game after game. Yoann Cathline personally changed that last weekend, scoring two beauties to hand the Domstad side their second win of the season.

It wasn't all rainbows and sunshine for Cathline, who was booked for simulation in the first half, but the Frenchman made a real difference with 6 total shots, 9 touches in the opposition's box, 3 fouls suffered, 12 progressive carries, and 5 recoveries. In other words: our Player of the Week was the key to Utrecht's 3-1 win over Willem II.

Forwards

Mathis Suray (Go Ahead Eagles) - 8.1

The spectacle between Go Ahead Eagles and Sparta Rotterdam saw Mathis Suray get on the scoresheet for the third time in five games, with the Belgian's attempt from 25 metres out enough to beat Michael Brouwer. Suray also completed 26 passes in the final third and delivered one key pass.

Anthony Descotte (Fortuna Sittard) - 8.2

It's a Belgian one-two up front in our Team of the Week, with Fortuna Sittard's Anthony Descotte rounding out the top XI. Descotte scored Fortuna's only goal on one of his five attempts, three of which he put on target. He was also fouled three times, delivered two key passes, and completed his only dribble attempt in the 1-1 draw against FC Twente.
