Veerman, 27, has been rumoured to leave PSV and was close to joining Fenerbahce and Brentford in the last two windows, but a deal never materialised for the wantaway star midfielder.
Voetbal International reported on Sunday that Borussia Dortmund, who'd shown interest earlier in the week, will activate the release clause worth approximately €22 million in Veerman's PSV contract. The clause was valid until August 20th.
Veerman, who'll undergo his medical in Dortmund on Monday, spoke about Dortmund's interest following PSV's 2-1 win over Excelsior on Saturday, saying the club would have to hurry to activate his clause.
"It’s obviously a beautiful club. I’m just waiting to see how it all pans out," Veerman told ESPN. "You do hear rumours, of course, but in any case, I’m not playing there just yet."
The Volendam-born midfielder did not hide excitement at the prospect of joining Dortmund and hoped for PSV's cooperation: "If it comes to that, it would be a brilliant option for me. I’ve been waiting for this for years. I hope they (PSV) will let me do it. I’ve had five wonderful years here. I’ve won eight trophies, I think, so it’s been a fantastic time in any case."
In 3.5 years at PSV, Veerman developed into one of the best players in the Dutch Eredivisie. The 27-year-old provided 40 assists in his last three Eredivisie seasons, in which he and PSV won the league every year.
In 198 games for PSV, Veerman scored 31 goals and provided 67 assists.
