AZ defender Alexandre Penetra is leaving the Johan Cruyff Shield winners to join promoted Turkish side Corum.

Alexandre Penetra, 24, spent three seasons at AZ after arriving from Famalicão. The Portuguese defender has played 136 games for AZ, with whom he won the KNVB Beker last season.

Penetra has been a mainstay in the Alkmaar defence, starting 33 of 34 league games last season and only missing one due to a suspension for an accumulation of yellow cards. The centre-half was absent during AZ's 4-0 win over PSV in Sunday's Johan Cruyff Shield.

The former Portuguese youth international has signed a season-long loan deal with newly-promoted Corum FK. Corum beat Erokspor in the final of the Turkish promotion play-offs and will play in the Turkish Super Lig for the first time in club history.

Corum will face reigning champions Galatasaray in their first game of the Super Lig season on Friday, August 14th.
