Flashscore's Team of the Weekend
Starting in goal, Lecce's Waldimiro Falcone was an easy pick between the sticks as he made six saves on his way to a clean sheet in his side's 2-0 win over Venezia in Serie A's opening round.
Staying in Italy, Napoli's Amir Rrahmani earned a place in the heart of our defence as the Partenopei also won 2-0, over Genoa, thanks to two late goals. Flanking Rrahmani are two South American full-backs in Edier Ocampo and Luciano Juba, with the former scoring and assisting for Vancouver Whitecaps in MLS.
Further forward, we have plenty of familiar faces in our attack. 37-year-old Ivan Perisic shone over the weekend with a goal in each half for Dutch champions PSV, who thrashed Groningen 5-1. And speaking of veterans, Antoine Griezmann also bagged a brace as Orlando City topped Real Salt Lake 2-1. Pep Biel of Charlotte FC and Porto's Gabri Veiga round out our midfield after scoring for their sides, too.
Our front line is stacked with star power and, of course, goals. Mohamed Salah, Victor Osimhen and Raphinha all scored twice for their respective sides in wins, and we will go into a bit more detail on them below.
Leading lights
Mohamed Salah (Trabzonspor) 9.6
Salah made the move to Turkey to join Trabzonspor after leaving Liverpool at the end of last season. In his third competitive appearance for the club, he bagged a brace in a 2-1 win over Basaksehir on Sunday to announce himself in the second round of the Super Lig season.
The Egyptian notched the top player rating of the entire weekend globally, thanks not only to his goals, but also two successful dribbles and six touches in the opposition box. His first goal may have dribbled over the line, but his second was full of class as he bent the ball home after cutting in and playing a clever one-two.
Victor Osimhen (Galatasaray) 9.4
Staying in Turkey, Osimhen stole the headlines on Friday night with his own double as champions Galatasaray got back to winning ways with a 4-0 thrashing of Erzurumspor to kick the weekend off. The Nigerian superstar needed just five touches in the box and four shots to earn his brace.
Two rounds into the season, Osimhen won't be satisfied with Gala's four points, but he's done his bit with four goals and one assist already as the Istanbul giants chase a fifth consecutive league crown.
One of the big questions for Barcelona in the summer was: who's going to replace Robert Lewandowski as their centre forward? After selling off Ferran Torres, that question was only amplified. On Sunday evening, however, in their first LaLiga match of the season, Raphinha put his hand up for the central berth with two goals as Barca routed Elche 5-0.
Earning and scoring a penalty early in the game, the Brazilian followed that up with an assist for Karim Adeyemi before the break. After the hour mark, Raphinha added his second goal with a confident finish to cap off a true captain's performance.
Robert who? That's what the Blaugrana fans might be asking if Hansi Flick's more fluid frontline continues this form!
