In his first ATP Tour match in about 11 months, Holger Rune suffered a decisive defeat to Frenchman Kyrian Jacquet 6-3, 6-1 in the ATP 500 tournament in Tokyo.

The Danish tennis player Holger Rune had a poor comeback on the ATP Tour following an 11-month injury layoff.

His return at the ATP 500 tournament in Tokyo resulted in a sound thrashing at the hands of a Frenchman, as Kyrian Jacquet defeated a struggling Rune 6-3, 6-1 in just 55 minutes.

The injury layoff has seen Rune drop to No. 188 in the world, and he now faces the prospect of falling further down the world rankings.

Last year, Rune reached the quarterfinals in Tokyo, meaning he had a significant number of ranking points to defend.
