The Danish tennis player Holger Rune had hoped to make a comeback at the grass tournament at The Queen's Club in London, which begins on 15 June. But he has been forced to withdraw, says his mother, and manager Aneke Rune, who confirms the news to Ritzau.
Now the goal is to get ready for the Grand Slam tournament, Wimbledon, which starts on 28 June. If all goes well, he will play exhibition matches, which can provide match practice before Wimbledon.
Earlier this year, Rune had a plan to make a comeback during the clay season, but was forced to withdraw from a tournament in Hamburg and the French Open as his knee wasn't fully fit.
It was back in October 2025 that Rune got off to a bad start in a semi-final match at a tournament in Stockholm when suddenly his leg gave way in the middle of a rally, the now 23-year-old Dane fell to the ground, and soon after it was confirmed that he had torn t his Achilles tendon.
