Here are the big highlights from the sporting world this weekend:
All weekend
The PGA TOUR season comes to an end over the next few days, with the TOUR Championship seeing a star-studded line-up battle it out in the final event of the FedExCup Playoffs.
East Lake Golf Club hosts the top 30 players in the FedExCup standings during 2026, and the winner will bank a chunky $10 million.
After the first round of action, Australia's Min Woo Lee leads the way after firing a stunning eight-under par 62, but there are plenty of big names lurking behind him with three days left.
Chris Gotterup, Viktor Hovland and Collin Morikawa are just two shots behind, while world number one Scottie Scheffler and Wyndham Clark - who are the favourites to be named Player of the Year - are in good positions.
Last year's champion, Tommy Fleetwood, is just four shots off the lead, so it is hard to make too many predictions at this stage.
It is going to be a captivating couple of days with one of golf's biggest prizes on the line. Who will reign victorious in Atlanta?

Bayern Munich vs Stuttgart - 20:30 CET
The Bundesliga returns on Friday night, and for much of the division, the sinking feeling may have already set in. Bayern's dominance last year continued a trend of more than a decade with the Bavarian side winning 12 of the last 13 campaigns. Only Bayer Leverkusen broke their monopoly in 2024 when they had to go unbeaten to defy the giant.
Last season, Bayern looked on course for their own invincible season, only to lose to Augsburg in January for what was their sole defeat all campaign. Alongside that, they have kept their match-winners together, with Harry Kane and Michael Olise both returning for another tilt. However, Vincent Kompany's men couldn't have picked a harder start against fellow Champions League hopefuls, Stuttgart.
Sebastian Hoeness' men finished fourth last time out in the Bundesliga, and also reached the DFB Pokal final - losing 3-0 to Friday's opponents. They have signed the exciting Slovak playmaker, Leo Sauer, from Feyenoord in the summer as well as Dzenan Pejcinovic as they look to make progress this season.
There is no tougher start to your domestic season than facing Bayern away from home, but if you want to be the best, you need to beat the best. If Stuttgart can get a result, it doesn't mean Bayern will be challenged this year, but it will certainly raise a few eyebrows.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Newcastle United - 18:30 CET
It might only be the second game of the season, but Tottenham vs Newcastle this weekend feels like an incredibly significant clash for both sides. A response to their opening game humiliation at Brentford is especially important for Roberto De Zerbi's side, and in front of an expectant home crowd, anything but three points will feel like a disappointment.
Spurs failed to turn up against Brentford; they were outrun and outclassed in equal measure, and although it is early in the season, their supporters will be looking to some of their exciting new signings like Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Savio to deliver a big performance against Newcastle.
For the Magpies, this is an opportunity to build on an encouraging opening weekend draw against Liverpool, a result that really deserved to be a victory and would have been if Lewis Hall hadn't carelessly conceded a penalty in the last seconds of the game.
From a tactical perspective, new head coach Matthias Jaissle looks to be the real deal and although early days, Newcastle's youthful summer business looks encouraging.
A draw would do little to help either side, and the pressure will be on Spurs as the home side to go all out for the win. So expect goals, drama and plenty of excitement in the game of the weekend in the Premier League.

US Open begins - 17:00 CET
The final Grand Slam of the 2026 tennis season is here, and on both the men's and women's sides, it feels like one of the most open in years.
With Jannik Sinner absent and Carlos Alcaraz far from sharp having not played since April, Novak Djokovic has one of his biggest chances to finally win a 25th major, and top seed Alexander Zverev has real hope of winning back-to-back slams. They're not the only three title contenders either; Arthur Fils' excellent year reached new heights last week when he won the Cincinnati Open, while teen sensation Rafael Jodar has also produced some incredible performances this hard-court season.
There are numerous players in the mix on the women's side, too, thanks in large part to the poor form of 2024 and 2025 champion Aryna Sabalenka. Coco Gauff is perhaps best placed to take advantage of the world number one's struggles having just triumphed in Cincinnati, while Toronto champion Iga Swiatek has also had an impressive month. Also very much in with a chance are Elena Rybakina, Jessica Pegula and Naomi Osaka.
It won't take long for things to heat up in New York, with the opening round pitting Fils against former world number three Stefanos Tsitsipas and the legendary Venus Williams against 2020 Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin, while 2016 US Open winner Stan Wawrinka will begin his last-ever major against 2019 semi-finalist Matteo Berrettini.
We may not be getting another edition of Sinner vs Alcaraz, but expect plenty of fireworks in Flushing Meadows nonetheless.

The second week of the Serie A produces the first big match of the season, as Napoli and Como square off. Both teams finished in the top four last term, making this clash quite the fascinating one.
Napoli finished second last term behind champions Inter, but were 11 points off top spot. The Partenopei were in the top four at the end of every single matchday throughout the 2025/26 season, and enter the weekend in fourth. Like many top clubs in Italy, they changed coaches in the offseason, bringing in Max Allegri after Antonio Conte's departure.
In comparison, Como are entering their third successive campaign in the top flight, finishing midtable in 2024/25 before achieving a best-ever fourth place. They had the fewest goals conceded (29), and the second-best goals scored (65) and goal difference (+36). With many eyes on I Lariani for this season, they will have to contend with European football for the first time, resulting in a heavier schedule.
All three of the sides' meetings last term - they also faced off in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals - ended level. Both league games ended goalless, while their cup clash ended 1-1 in Naples. Cesc Fabregas' men prevailed 7-6 in the penalty shootout to qualify for the semis.
It will be a tough ask for either to challenge Inter for the title this term, but if they are to do so, Sunday evening's game could go a long way toward a serious title push.
