The Slovenian has already won five of the last seven Tours de France, whilst he also won the Giro d'Italia in 2024.
Now, he heads back to Spain looking to complete the set.
He will compete alongside Joao Almeida, who is likely to be his last man in the mountains, as well as Jay Vine, Ivo Oliveira, Pavel Sivakov, compatriot Domen Novak, Pablo Torres and Kevin Vermaerke.
In a statement on their website, Pogacar said: “I’m excited to say I’m going back to La Vuelta. It was my first ever Grand Tour back in 2019 and an amazing experience. Spain is a country I love to visit and race in, and I think the time is right to go back.
“The motivation is high to finish off the year in a good way, and the Vuelta will be a big target. The team is strong, and we hope to do good things.”
In 2019, Pogacar, then just 21, was the breakout star of the race. He won three stages in the mountains and finished on the podium, giving the world a first glimpse of his dominance to come - a year later he would win his first Tour de France title.
If he were to win the 2026 title in Granada on September 13th, he would become the ninth male cyclist to have all three Grand Tours on their palmares. His biggest rival, Jonas Vingegaard, completed the feat earlier this year by winning the Giro.
Others on the list include Eddy Merckx, Jacques Anquetil, Vincenzo Nibali and Chris Froome.
The Vuelta a Espana begins on August 22nd in Monaco before finishing 22 days later in Andalusia. It features more than 3,300 kilometres of racing with seven summit finishes.
