Both teams squandered the chance to win the match in the final minute, yet neither can be overly dissatisfied with the result. With just over half a minute remaining, Aalborg had a penalty throw, which Magnus Landin sent over the bar.
On the ensuing attack, BSH turned the ball over, and in the dying seconds, Felix Moller failed to beat BSH goalkeeper Sebastian Frandsen.
Following this result, Aalborg and BSH have seven and five points respectively after five games of the new season.
Aalborg are back in action on Thursday, traveling to Celje, Slovenia, for a Champions League match. That same evening, BSH visit the league's still-undefeated leaders, Ribe-Esbjerg.
Aalborg started well on Saturday, taking a 3–1 lead before things fell apart. The North Jutland side allowed BSH goalkeeper Marko Roganovic to find his rhythm, while the experienced Rasmus Lauge—during a couple of power-play periods—skillfully distributed the ball to his young, sharp teammates.
In ten golden minutes, the score shifted from 1–3 to 8–3, and BSH looked like a team with far more composure and energy than the visitors.
However, Juri Knorr and Thomas Arnoldsen each scored a couple of goals to get Aalborg back on track and although BSH managed to hold their ground and led 15–12 at halftime, the momentum seemed to have shifted.
This was underlined when Aalborg levelled the score at 16-16 in the second half and seemed to hold all the cards to claim the win.
Tobias Nielsen, in particular, was alert and clinical whenever the opportunity arose to punish BSH on the counter-attack. The young winger scored seven goals from seven attempts during the match. Aalborg took a two-goal lead, but in a high-level, breathless finale, BSH managed to pull level, turning the match into a real nail-biter.
Both coaches had a timeout available to set up their players for the decisive attacks, but ultimately, it did little to secure the win.
