Flensburg-Handewitt will be boosted by the arrival of the famous Costa brothers, Martim and Francisco Costa, from the 2027/28 season. The brothers will help cover the void in the Flensburg outfit as Simon Pytlick is set to join Fuchse Berlin.

Danish handball star Simon Pytlick is set to leave SG Flensburg-Handewitt in the summer of 2027 to join league rivals Füchse Berlin. After activating a contractual exit clause, his departure concludes a four-year stint with the club, and the two brothers are now brought in to cover the gap left by the Danish international.

In signing the two Portuguese national team players, SG gains not only two exceptional athletes but also a pair of brothers who have followed the same path for years. Both have already proven their abilities at the highest level with their club and the national team. Their arrival sends a strong signal regarding SG Flensburg-Handewitt’s sporting ambitions while also reflecting the club’s long-term strategy.

"Bringing Martim and Kiko to the club is something very special for us," says SG Managing Director Holger Glandorf to Flensburg's website. "Despite their youth, both have already demonstrated their exceptional abilities. They embody dynamism, creativity, and great ambition. At the same time, we quickly sensed during our discussions that they are a perfect fit for SG on a personal level. We are delighted that they have chosen Flensburg together, and we are convinced they will enrich our team—both in terms of sporting performance and character."
